Another long-time and life member of the History Club, Emily Pierce, passed away on October 28, 1992 after a lengthy illness. She was 87 years old at the time of her death.

Born in Berwyn on January 6, 1905, she was the daughter of Wilmer Hunter and Emily Lockwood Johnson and a resident of this area for all her life. She attended the old Easttown Grammar School in Berwyn and was a graduate of Tredyffrin-Easttown High School in the Class of 1923.

Her first job after graduation was in the Court House in West Chester. After several years there she moved back to Berwyn and became secretary/treasurer for the Tredyffrin Township Supervisors, a position she held for thirty-one years before her retirement in 1976. She was also the first president of the Berwyn/Paoli/Malvern Business and Professional Women when it was organized in 1950.

In 1948 and 1949, and again from 1958 through 1961, she served as secretary of the History Club, and in 1950 and 1951 was its president.

She was also a former deacon of the Trinity Presbyterian Church, of which she was a member for 65 years. Although she was basically a private person, she was devoted to her church and had many good friends there. For many years she also arranged for the placement of the chancel flowers for the church each Sunday.
