One of the newer members of the History Club and a long-time resident of the area, Alda Krause, died on June 28, 1995. She was 92 years old.

A native of Boise, Idaho, she was a graduate of Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington. She then began a teaching career, at a school in a logging camp at Moelips, Washington. In the mid-1930s she came east and married Alfred Krause in Baltimore in 1935. In 1944 she moved to Paoli.

After raising her family she returned to teaching, at the Phelps School in Malvern, where she taught remedial reading for thirty years before retiring. In 1963 she was recognized with a Valley Forge Freedoms Foundation Award, and also received the Valley Forge Classroom Teachers Medal of the Year.

She was an active member of the St. Peters Episcopal Church in the Great Valley, where her funeral services were held on July 1st. Before she died she had requested that the services be "a celebration of life", with the release of thousands of balloons, floating through the sky, as a part of the ceremony.
