There, on March 7, thirty-eight members and friends gathered to enjoy an evening of good fellowship. The tables were beautifully decorated with white snapdragons and lighted candles. Place cards, sketched by Avery Okie, showed the old log cabin which stood at Peggy's Corner, opposite the high school. Dr. Croswell McBee, Rector of Old St. David's, acted as toastmaster, and introduced the speakers in his genial way. All were members of the Club and included S. Paul Teamer, Mrs. John Croasdale, Mrs. Alfred C. Prime, and Howard S. Okie. Mrs. John F. Heagy, chairman of the Heraldry Committee, presented an emblem of original design--a dragon embroidered in purple on white satin between bands of green (green and white being the Club colors), which was accepted by Ruth J. Moore. |
