The 1941 Banquet

The third annual banquet of the Club was held April 1 at Ye Old Bull Tavern, Valley Forge Road, Phoenixville, and, like its predecessors, was thoroughly enjoyed. This year's committee consisted of Hiss Myrtle Wandless, chairman, assisted by Miss Katharine Stroh and Mrs. Alfred C. Prime.

Genial toastmaster of the evening was Rev. Crosswell McBee, rector of Old St. David's. The history of the tavern, written by the club president, Franklin L. Burns, was read by Mrs. William T. Mansley, end is printed in this issue. N. DelRoy Acker, who at one time had lived on the property, gave some interesting reminiscences. Dr. J. Alden Mason commented on "Early Indians of the Vicinity". Donald L. Snively told an amusing story of the days of Christopher Dock, a schoolmaster at Skippack. George P. Orr, Esq., gave some of the local history, reading unusual portions of Joseph Bartholomew's will.

All in all, it was a well-balanced program, and the evening seemed too short to the forty guests in attendance.
