Miss Margaretta Atkinson who was one of the most enthusiastic workers for the Berwyn Reading Room, later the Berwyn Library, was at one time a school Director of the Easttown Board, also the first Manager of Buck Hill Inn, in the Poconos.

She taught in the grades in the early 1900's, then in High School, afterwards teaching in the Girls' High School in Philadelphia for several years until her retirement in 1945.

She was much interested in Garden Club and Christian Science work.

In 1921 she and her sister bought the Potter property on Leopard Road. In 1955 she sold her home in Berwyn and entered the Friends' Hickman Home in West Chester where she spent the last three years of her life.
