Source: April 1969 Volume 15 Number 3, Pages 49–49 Henry James Weller Henry James Weller, was born in North Philadelphia, June 29,1897, the son of Samuel Broad Weller and Susan Bromer. The family moved to Camden, N.J. in 1903, and Henry attended school there and graduated from Camden High School in 1916. He attended Pennsylvania State College where he joined the Chi Phi Fraternity. He received his Bachelors degree in 1921 and his Masters in 1922. He taught Science in Haddon Heights High School in New Jersey for several years. Mr. Weller joined the Masonic Lodge, Camden, N.J. #15 F.& A.M. He was a 32nd. degree Mason and a Shriner, and an active member in the local lodge. In 1927 he moved to West Philadelphia and went to Radnor High where he taught mathematics and science, He also coached many school plays. The opera was one of his main interests, having a season ticket for the opera in Philadelphia from about 1925 to 1965, Mr. Weller was an Elder and Clerk of the Session in the Trinity Presbyterian Church of Berwyn. He enjoyed traveling both at home, in his car and abroad. In the Foulkeways Directory he listed his interests as travel, opera, theater, reading, antiques, bridge and gardening. Henry and his sister Cordelia joined the Tredyffrin-Easttown History Club in 1962. Moved to Foulkway, Gwynedd, June 7, 1968. Mr. Weller died in North Penn Hospital March 19,1969. Mr. Weller is survived by a brother Albert, and two sisters, Mrs. Thomas Wolden Phillips, (Kathryn) and Miss Cordelia Weller. |
