The two major articles in this issue of the Quarterly were written by people who just recently became members of the Tredyffrin Easttown History Club.

The first article is also the continuation of our series of "tricentennial" articles. The extensive research Bob Ward has done on old land titles, tax lists, and other records concerning Tredyffrin is reflected in his article on the early settling of Tredyffrin Township.

In tracing the history of the house in which he lives, Mark Tunnell has also used another type of research - personal interviews and oral history. What he found out about its history, the people who lived there before he and his wife bought it , and what happened in it not only makes an interesting article, but also suggests the untold stories that may be hidden in a number of "just ordinary" homes in the two townships.

It was seventy-five years ago this summer that the third annual Glidden Tour passed through Paoli. Bob Goshorn's paper about the event was also read at one of the Club's meetings last summer.

And since Easttown and Tredyffrin are two of the older municipalities in present-day Chester County, the tricentennial recognition of them by the County Commissioners took place last February. A brief report on the ceremonies in the Court House is included in the Notes and Comments section.

That this year is also the 250th anniversary of the birth of George Washington has been somewhat overshadowed by the Tricentennial. It is therefore fitting that we conclude this issue with a poem written by Anne Cook on the occasion of his birthday.
