Who was General Pasquale de Paoli? Surprisingly, thanks to James Boswell, the famed biographer of Dr. Samuel Johnson, we know quite a bit about him. Boswell's observations of the Corsican patriot form the basis of the article, starting on the opposite page, about the general for whom the Paoli Inn was named in 1769.

The next feature is a pictorial portfolio on the octagonal Diamond Rock School House, compiled by Linda McNeil. We appreciate the cooperation of the artists who gave their permission to reproduce their paintings or drawings, and who made this portfolio possible. This year marks the 165th anniversary of the historic old school on Yellow Springs Road.

Even though more than three decades have elapsed since Murray's had its first cake baking contest, it is still well remembered by many of those who took part in it. The recipes for the cakes that won the grand prizes, included as a part of our report of the contests, are a bonus for our dessert-loving readers.

Finally, in this issue our club members remember some of the games they used to play some years ago. The members who contributed recollections for this feature for this issue were, in alphabetical order; Eleanor Dunwoody, Barbara Fry, Elizabeth and Bob Goshorn, Betty and Leighton Haney, Mildred Kirkner, Janet Malin, Elizabeth Rumrill, and Molly and Ed TenBroeck.
