Florence Wolf Barnes

Florence Barnes, a former member of the Tredyffrin Easttown History Club, passed away on November 11, 1983, at the age of 84.

Although she was born in Philadelphia, she had lived in Berwyn for eighty years, and was a charter member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church. She was also a member and past matron of the Anthony Wayne Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star; a volunteer with Meals on Wheels; and a home case worker with the Paoli Memorial Hospital.

Before retiring in 1975, she had served for fifteen years as clerk to the building inspector of Tredyffrin Township.

Among the papers she prepared for presentation to the History Club were histories of the old bronze works in Berwyn, and of the Berwyn Fire Company.

The widow of the late Harpell Barnes, she is survived by a daughter Jean Barnes Devaney, of Houston, Texas; a son Robert, of East Orleans, Mass.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and also a sister, Kathryn Gibb, of Berwyn.
