The articles on Spring Mill were presented at a club meeting early this past summer. The meeting was held at the old mill, located at the headwaters of Valley Creek near the intersection of Conestoga and Moores roads, In her description of the operations of a grist mill, Alice Gilbert Siddal Stray has drawn upon her own experiences from when she lived at her father's mill. (We again thank Elizabeth Goshorn for her work in transcribing the tape recording of the meeting.)

For the 75th anniversary of the Paoli Library, Anna Smedley Bartram, for many years a member of the Library Board, has recalled some of the growing pains of the library following the first World War. We appreciate the cooperation of members of the Library Board in making her recollections available for publication. After three-quarters of a century in the old "Town Hall" in Paoli, plans are underway to move the library to much-needed larger quarters.

The next feature is a reminder of the time when anniversaries and occasions were noted in verse. These poems in recognition of the "Massacre at Paoli" were collected from clippings from old newspapers at the Chester County Historical Society in West Chester.

Bob Ward's discussion of sources for genealogical study and research was also a presentation at one of the club's meetings earlier this year. Since his presentation he has prepared the extensive bibliography of genealogy and local history for Tredyffrin and Easttown which is also included with his article.

Also included in this issue is the Index for Volume XXIII of our Quarterly.
