The recollections of the early days of radio by Leighton Haney and other club members remind us of how much radio meant to us a half century or so ago. During the program last Fall, Leighton Haney also demonstrated some of the old radio sets he has collected over the years, and illustrated his comments with a number of early radio promotion pieces.

The excerpts from the Minutes of the Session of the Berwyn Trinity Presbyterian Church pertaining to its Sabbath School in Paoli were compiled by Barbara Fry in conjunction with the interest in preserving the old Chapel - Town Hall - Library building on Darby Road. Now that it is no longer to be used for the Library, the Paoli Presbyterian Church is seeking to raise a fund to acquire the building and move it to its property on South Valley Road, within a mile of the present original site.

Grace Winthrop's interest in old inns and taverns naturally led to an interest in the old roads on which they were located. Her article on some of the early roads in Chester County was also a program at one of the club's meetings this year.

Our final article in this issue is about Anthony Wayne's brief tenure in the United States House of Representatives, and the circumstances leading to his losing his seat. In addition to his many achievements, Wayne also had the dubious distinction -- though apparently through no fault of his own -- of being the first member of Congress to be denied his seat because of election fraud. This article was prepared for one of the club's meetings earlier this year.
