What appeared to be a grocery bag full of kitchen staples at one of our meetings last winter turned out to be a collection of home remedies, as club members recalled various products from the kitchen cupboard or pantry shelf that were also used as household remedies before the growth of over the-counter preparations. Some of these medicinal applications are presented in our first article.

Peggy Egertson's delightful article on popular sheet music, and the way in which it reflects events during the first half of the century, is an out-growth of her sharing with the Club her collection of sheet music at its annual picnic meeting a couple of years ago. Her collection includes sheet music for more than 300 popular songs of the period, many of them otherwise long forgotten.

Jane L. S. Davidson is in charge of the County Preservation Office for Chester County. She was the speaker at our June meeting, and the next feature is a transcript of the talk she gave to the Club.

Janet Malin's "memoir" of her father, the next article, gives an insight into suburban living in the 1920s and 1930s and the effect of the Great Depression of the 1930s on how we lived.

In the concluding feature we continue our series of "History on a Sign Post" with an exploration of the etymology of various road names in Paoli.

An Index for Volume XXVIII is also included in this issue.
