Source: July 1992 Volume 30 Number 3, Page 86 Foreword Some of us still remember "the amusement park on the trolley line", even though at the time we knew it the trolley itself had already disappeared. In our first article Herb Fry recalls some of the parks in this vicinity. Although none of them was in either Tredyffrin or Easttown, they were close enough to provide "affordable entertainment" when there was only limited leisure time and limited transportation. His article was presented at our March meeting. The month before, Steve Dittman, an alumnus of the Episcopal Academy, presented his article on the Devon campus of the Academy, the second feature in this issue. Also present at the meeting was James Quinn, who was the headmaster at the school at the time the Devon campus was acquired, and his comments are also included in this transcription of the program. Shirley Hough's article on the "milestones" in the history of the Berwyn Methodist Church was presented at the May meeting. Also active members of the Club, she and her husband have both also been active with the church. Our final feature is by Georges Coanet, the founder and secretary-general of the Pasquale Paoli Foundation in Corsica. He visited Paoli this spring with his wife Renee, and at a dinner in their honor arranged by the Paoli Business & Professional Association he commented on his theory of a common link between the constitutions of the United States, France, and Corsica. His remarks are included in this issue through the courtesy of the Association, and raise some interesting questions. |
