Mildred Erdman, a former member of the Tredyffrin Easttown History Club and for many years its treasurer, passed away on March 24, 1992 at the Burlington Hospital in Burlington, Wisconsin.

She was born on June 4, 1902 in Rochester, Pennsylvania, and was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, with a master's degree from the University of Pennsylvania. A former buyer for the Wanamaker store in Pittsburgh, she spent much of her career with the American Red Cross, serving overseas during the Second World War. After retiring from the Red Cross in 1963 she became very active with the Foster Grandparents program, which she initiated at Pennhurst School in 1968.

Club members will recall with delight the annual club picnics that were held for several years at her historic log house on Irish Road, and the array of fancy desserts she brought forth from her small kitchen, each year outdoing the delicacies of the year before.

She also had a keen eye for newspaper items about our area, which she always shared with other club members during the monthly roll-call.

Her former home in Berwyn, known officially as the Weatherby-Hampton Log House, incidentally, is on the National Register of Historic Places.

She is survived by one son, seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren, in addition to one brother and one sister.
