In this issue of the Quarterly, we are pleased to present a history of the village of Howellville, in the Great Chester Valley, researched, written and illustrated by talented History Club member Sue Andrews. Sue's sketches of the residences, inns and industry of the village do much to convey a picture of its former importance.

Tredyffrin Township's Howellville, or "Howell's Tavern" as it was once called, was an early center of industry due to its location at the confluence of three roads, Swedesford, Bear Hill and Howellville. Curiously, the construction of a modern road, Route 202, has led to its decline, and the destruction of many of its buildings.
