Lost Mount Penn: Wineries, Railroads and Resorts of Reading

Author Mike Madaio will be joining us to discuss his Arcadia Press book, Lost Mount Penn: Wineries, Railroads and Resorts of Reading, which explores the fascinating society and culinary culture that made Reading, Pa. and Berks County one of the best known resort regions in the country in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. During his talk, Mike will be sharing some of the fascinating history of wine in Southeastern Pa. and Berks County, including the colorful characters that made it, and the events that led to its downfall.

Lost Mount Penn: Wineries, Railroads and Resorts of Reading will be available for purchase and signing during this event for $20, cash or Venmo.

Mike Madaio is a food and wine writer based in suburban Philadelphia. His career began with the creation of “Main Line Dine,” a popular restaurant and dining blog covering the Philadelphia suburbs, and his writing has appeared in publications such as Wine Enthusiast, VinePair and Edible Philly. He also teaches wine classes regularly at “What Am I Drinking?!” in Bryn Mawr. Mike's website is Lifeattable.com and he can be found on social media @lifeattable.

This presentation will be held at the Easttown Library & Information Center in Berwyn, PA on Sunday 17 May 2020, starting at 2 pm. Visitors are welcome free of charge.
